Man jailed for rape and controlling behaviour

Alexander Julien, 34 and from Castleford, had denied two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour and raping a woman in Wakefield in 2022 but was found guilty following a trial at Leeds Crown Court in December.

Girl, 12, tells court she was strangled and then raped

A 12-year-old girl alleged to have been strangled by one man and raped by another has told a court she thought she was “going to die” because she could not breathe.

The prosecution told the trial at Warwick Crown Court that Mohammad Kabir tried to strangle the girl as he attempted to abduct her in Nuneaton in July, before Ahmad Mulakhil sexually assaulted her a few hours later.

“After he strangled me I ran off,” the girl said in video evidence shown to jurors.

Mulakhil, 23, has previously pleaded guilty to one charge of raping a child under the age of 13, but denies two further counts, as well as other charges. Fellow Afghan national Kabir, 24 denies all charges, including attempted abduction.

Barber raped women and filmed victim’s distress for social media

A barber who raped two women and shared footage of his victims on social media, and with another man, has been jailed for 10 years.

Anas Almarjeh was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow after judge Lady Hood told him he had taken no responsibility for the crimes or shown “any insight” into the harm he had caused.

Almarjeh had denied the accusations at a trial in October last year, but jurors found him guilty of two rape charges as well as another of engaging in abusive behaviour.

Man raped woman next to court building, jury told

A man raped a woman next to the court building where his trial is taking place, a jury has heard.

Mubarak Ibrehim is on trial at Portsmouth Crown Court accused of the alleged rape in June last year.

Ed Hand, prosecuting, told the jury that the the defendant and complainant were captured on CCTV before walking “out of shot for about five minutes in the vehicle bay of this building”.

An asylum seeker has been jailed for seven years for raping an 18-year-old woman in a park, days after meeting her via a social media app.

Mehmet Ogur, 27, who was living at the Holiday Inn Express in Tamworth, Staffordshire, forced himself on his victim last January and later sent her a messages saying he was sorry for what he had done.

A man accused of raping an 18-year-old woman in a park has told a court he did not carry out the attack.

Sheraz Malik, 28, is on trial at Birmingham Crown Court accused of three counts of rape against the woman at Sutton Lawn park in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, on 29 June last year.

Malik, who denies three counts of rape, told jurors he did not grab the woman by her hair and claimed she was “happy” during consensual acts.
